Quick Take: WHITE COLLAR Season 5 Premiere

When we left our friends on WHITE COLLAR, Neil’s dad had killed the Senator who ruined everyone’s lives, and then left Peter to deal with the consequences. The 5th season premiere picks up tonight at 9/8c, right where it left us – we see how Peter’s dealing with jail, and how all of his colleagues and loved ones are handling it.  What at first seems like it might be a quick episode that puts everything right back to the status

Quick Take: SCANDAL is back TONIGHT!!!

SCANDAL comes back TONIGHT (10/9c on ABC)!! I’ve been SO EXCITED for this premiere and with an episode titled “It’s Handled” can you blame me??? Last season all the poo hit all the fans for Olivia Pope and her Gladiators in suits. *SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t watched Season 1 & 2 yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? GO WATCH IT!! Via whatever method you can!! Then come back here and read/comment* The press knows about Olivia and President Fitzgerald.

Quick Take: IRONSIDE premiere on NBC

I’m a big fan of Blair Underwood.  I think he’s charming and captivating, and I have enjoyed many a Blair Underwood performance.  Same goes for familiar faces like Pablo Schreiber (god he was good in the SVU premiere, and he’s so creepy-addictive on ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK), Brent Sexton, and Casey Cartwright, I mean Spencer Grammer (GREEK).  Yet something about NBC’s latest drama IRONSIDE (premiering tonight at 10/9c), which brings the group of them together, just doesn’t click for

Quick Take: ONCE UPON A TIME Season 3

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with ONCE UPON A TIME.  The stories have always confounded me, and the introduction of characters who otherwise shouldn’t be involved with each other has always made me crazy (Dr Frankenstein….).  This is another show that I had 9 episodes of on my DVR that I just deleted in one fell swoop in May.  Ok, so maybe it’s been more of a “hate/love” relationship with the show, because there are more things I don’t

Quick Take: THE MENTALIST Season 6 Premiere

There is just something about THE MENTALIST that keeps me coming back.  A show that I watch off and on, and marathon some weeks while missing it others – I keep going back because I’m still caught up in the Red John of it all.  Season 6 picks up tonight at 10/9c on CBS with another great episode.  Jane has narrowed his list of Red John suspects to a list of 7 (my money is on Reed Diamond because I

Quick Take: REVENGE Season 3

I think we can all agree that REVENGE’s second season (and maybe even the second half of the first season) wasn’t the greatest.  The continued dependence on the faux-Amanda-Clark side of things, the Initiative, Emily straying too far from the take downs we’d come to love, not enough Nolan and Emily friendship- there was a lot of room for improvement.  It got to the point where I had 9 episodes stored up on the DVR that I never even made

Quick Take: MASTERCHEF JUNIOR on FOX

Tonight at 8/7c on FOX, the all new cooking competition series MASTERCHEF JUNIOR premieres.  Back again are Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich, and Graham Elliot, but this time around, the competitors are a bunch of excited little kids, some with self-described sophisticated palates, and a seemingly endless knowledge of how to cook.  The show follows the same format as the mothership – home cooks competing for the prize and the trophy (the kids care a bit more about the trophy than

Quick Take: CHICAGO FIRE Season 2 Premiere

If you remember back to last year, right around this time, I wasn’t exactly giving CHICAGO FIRE a glowing review, calling it a bunch of hot bodies but not much else.  As I watched season 1 roll out, however, with the drama that came along with it (the rogue cops and lost lives and secret drug use, etc), I found myself pleasantly surprised, and excited for Season 2. The wait is over as Season 2 premieres tonight (on a new

Quick Take: CASTLE S6 Premiere “Valkyrie”

When we last left Castle and Beckett at the end of Season 5’s finale, Rick surprised us all by proposing to Kate instead of breaking off their relationship with a sweet moment on the swings.  Season 6 picks up literally seconds later with a resolution to the cliffhanger that propels a really fun season premiere.  I can’t honestly much without giving anything away, though I guess it’s not spoiling anything to say that Alexis, Martha, Ryan, and Esposito appear in

Quick Take: HAVEN is back on Syfy!

Tonight on Syfy, HAVEN returns for a fourth season that finds our gang of “Troubles Fighters” all over the place.  Nathan’s out of HAVEN, no one knows where Audrey Parker is, Duke is somewhere surprising, and everyone else has a few surprises up their sleeves.  After a season finale that found Audrey going into The Barn with no idea of what happens next, the season premiere is a solid effort of explaining what happens when the town kind of falls
