Cheryl’s Take: CBS has the most new shows hitting this Fall!

Let’s be honest. I’m more a fan of drama than comedy. That being said, it’s time I checked to see what the networks have planned for us, the unsuspecting viewers, for the upcoming 2017-18 season. I want to look at some of these shows in a short series of articles.

Here’s a quick peek at new dramas CBS has lined up.

The story of “Seal Team” (Wednesdays, 9/8c) is exactly as its name suggests. The series follows the elite military team on secret missions. This is a fictional story and is not to be assumed any missions are based on real life. Series stars are David Boreanaz, Jessica Pare, and Max Thieriot. As a side note – Jim Caviezel was originally cast in the lead role.

Speaking of Caviezel, a series similar to “Person of Interest” will also air this fall on CBS. Jeremy Piven’s character creates an app to help solve his daughter’s murder. As the series moves on, it is discovered that the app can also solve other crimes. “Wisdom of the Crowd” (Sundays 8/7c) also stars Monica Potter and Richard T. Jones.

It has also just been announced that CBS has ordered 13 episodes of a Dick Wolf production tentatively called “The F.B.I.” Detailing the operations of the FBI’s New York City office, it is set for broadcast in the 2018-19 television season. Again, please be aware this is a fictional series.

Other CBS dramas to air later in the season include “Instinct” (starring Alan Cumming, the series is about a former CIA agent who becomes a professor, then gets lured back into the world of solving crimes) and “S.W.A.T.” (somewhat of a reboot starring Shemar Moore of “Criminal Minds” fame, Thursdays at 10/9c staring in November).

Then there’s “Star Trek: Discovery,” which comes to CBS All Access as a digital series.

Keep on the lookout for airdates of additional new dramas on CBS.
