DVD Review and Giveaway! THE KNICK Season 2
Out today on DVD and Blu-Ray, both with an available Digital HD copy, is Cinemax’s critically acclaimed drama series starring Clive Owen: THE KNICK: The Complete Second season. Steven Soderbergh directed all 10 episodes (gorgeous, I might add) of this second season that found Owen’s Thackery in hospital for a drug addiction, while Dr Edwards (André Holland) aims to take his place as John’s successor.
Fewer and fewer wealthy patients, more and more financial issues, and suddenly, the board is closing the hospital for a new building. This all takes place at the turn of the century in New York City.
Often times dark, often times frightening to realize just how far we’ve come in the world of medicine, the show is one of the best currently airing on TV, and the cast of Owen, Holland, Eve Hewson, and Juliet Rylance are unreal.
What else is included?
There are a handful of extras on the DVD set that are worth checking out, most notably, the “Inside the Body Shop” feature that gives you a look at the 1900s era medical procedures (gross and intriguing at the same time). Production Designer Howard Cummings takes you on a walking tour of the sets in “The Knick Under Construction”, and Ellen Mirojnick walks you through the costumes with Rylance and Holland in “Inside the Costume Shop.” Other notable features: “Invitation to the Ball,” “Behind the Scenes,” “Post-Ops” (recaps), and “Knicktoids.”
