What’s On? Wednesday, 3/3/10

Lots of new stuff tonight – what are you watching first?

The 8:00 Hour –

ABC airs a rerun episode of MODERN FAMILY and an all new THE MIDDLE.  Up first, it’s the episode where Benjamin Bratt guest stars as Manny’s dad Javier!  On THE MIDDLE, the Hecks are so excited about Brick’s excellent Spelling bee skills and his chances of winning, that they forget about Sue’s birthday.  Over on CBS, catch all news episodes of THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE and GARY UNMARRIED.  On CHRISTINE, Old Christine’s business starts being profitable, and she needs to decide whether to spend the money on herself or to donate it to a charity like Barb does; on GARY, he challenges Tom’s prospective wrestling coach (his old rival) to a match, to get Tom on the wrestling team.

FOX has two hours of AMERICAN IDOL – the top 12 girls get their chance to sing this week.  Hopefully, the extra day of rehearsal helps them be better than last week!  NBC has an all new episode of MERCY!  In the aftermath of her traumatic experience, Veronica takes off on a road trip with a mysterious visitor.  Meanwhile, a bus bomb clogs the ER and Chloe tries to recover from her hangover, while Sonia tries to keep her infidelity a secret.  Check out a rerun of Monday’s LIFE UNEXPECTED on The CW – Baze and Ryan come to blows at a radio show event!

The 9:00 Hour –

On ABC, catch all new episodes of MODERN FAMILY and COUGARTOWN.  On MODERN FAMILY, Luke and Phil try to explore under the house, but Phil’s fears threaten to derail their progress.  Meanwhile, Cam and Mitchell have the pediatrician over for dinner and Lily says something they didn’t want to hear.  Also, Jay and Gloria take Manny “fishing” to get him over his fear of roller coasters.  On COUGARTOWN, Laurie’s mom (Beverly D’Angelo) is no help when she needs a cosigner for a loan; Bobby is robbed, and Travis helps Barb after surgery.  Over on CBS, check out an all new CRIMINAL MINDS – when their current case is related to an old abduction case, the team tries to solve both crimes.

FOX has hour two of AMERICAN IDOL.  NBC has the first of two all new hours of LAW & ORDER: SVU. Hour one features Kathy Griffin as the head of a lesbian-rights group that helps Benson and Stabler solve the murder of a fellow member.  The CW airs a rerun of GOSSIP GIRL – one year after Bart’s death, and Chuck has issues to deal with.  There is an all new episode of THE INBETWEENERS on BBC America at 9:30.

The 10:00 Hour –

ABC has an all new OSCAR special from Oprah Winfrey where famous winners interview other famous nominees.  Halle Berry talks to Penelope Cruz; Ben Affleck interviews Jeremy Renner; Glenn Close interviews Michael Douglas, and James Cameron sits down with Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington, and Zoe Saldana.  CBS has an all new episode of CSI: NY – the team finds 4 victims in a hotel room, and they find their fifth friend, walking around covered in blood and carrying an ax.  Hour two of SVU is on NBC – the team investigates the death of young prostitutes and Benson (naturally) becomes too emotionally involved when one of them, played by Mischa Barton, survives.

SHEAR GENIUS has an all new episode that finds the stylists straightening curly hair, and styling military wives into pinups for videos to send to their husbands.  On MTV, you have another episode of THE REAL WORLD: DC – an altercation between Ty and Andrew leads the house mates to become worried about letting Ty stay in the house.  There are two all new episodes of Tyler Perry’s HOUSE OF PAYNE on TBS.

Tonight is the series finale of NIP/TUCK on FX.  Though I haven’t watched all season, part of me is still sad to see this one go.  Christian and Sean reflect on their relationship, while fixing an elderly Japanese man’s scar.  The offer Liz a surprise, and Christian makes a deal with Ava Moore (Famke Janssen).  Season 2 of BEING ERICA continues on Soapnet.  Erica is sent to the future and learns a lesson about problems she can’t solve.

Don’t miss an all new episode of PSYCH on USA – when Lassiter suspects that a shark attack was not an accident but rather a murder, he enlists Shawn and Gus’ help to solve the case.
