My Take On….MOCKINGBIRD LANE on NBC

Bryan Fuller has long been a favorite of MToT – those few DEAD LIKE ME episodes; WONDERFALLS is one of the best gone-but-not-forgotten series in recent memory; and of course, who can forget PUSHING DAISIES, one of my favorite shows of all time? Tonight, NBC is giving you a chance to check out his latest project, the “reboot,” so to speak, of the classic sitcom THE MUNSTERS, appropriately titled MOCKINGBIRD LANE.

My Take On….HAPPY ENDINGS Season 3 (Hint: It’s Perfection!)

I know that there are about 150 comedies airing tonight on all of the networks (really, it’s 7), and believe me when I say that you should be watching at least 149 (really, 6) of them, but if there is one show that absolutely needs to be watched (and then watched again immediately), it’s tonight’s third season premiere of ABC’s HAPPY ENDINGS.  Jane, Brad, Alex, Dave, Max, and Penny are back, and the premiere lets us in on what’s been

My Take On…ARROW – one of the best pilots this Fall. Seriously…

Another new show hitting the airwaves tonight is The CW’s take on the Green Arrow super hero, aptly titled ARROW (8/7c before an all new SUPERNATURAL).  The incredibly charming (like, incredibly, incredibly charming) Stephen Amell, he of all those pictures of abs you’ve been seeing in the weeks leading up to tonight’s premiere, plays Starling City’s beloved playboy Oliver Queen.  Oliver has been missing and presumed dead for 5 years, when he miraculously turns up on a hidden island, looking

My Take On…NASHVILLE (aka my other favorite new ABC show)

Connie Britton may just be one of my favorite people on this planet.  For 5 years as Mrs Coach on my favorite show of all time, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, she lit up the screen with her emotions and charm.  It should come as no surprise, then, that in her new show, NASHVILLE (ABC 10/9c), based in and around the Nashville music scene, she’s pretty much perfection as Rayna Jaymes.  Rayna is a country music legend with any number of top

My Take On….666 PARK AVENUE on ABC

ABC’s new Sunday night line up wraps up tonight with the series premiere of 666 PARK AVENUE (10/9c).  Terry O’Quinn and Vanessa Williams star as Gavin and Olivia Doran, owners of the mysterious apartment building named The Drake.  When something horrific happens to the hotel’s previous manager (supernatural, scary, you name it), Gavin hires gorgeous young couple Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and Henry Martin (Dave Annable) to take his place. The story follows what happens to these beautiful people

My Take On….LAST RESORT, aka My Favorite Fall Drama

What happens when your own nation fires on you and your submarine, after you refuse to fire on 4 million unsuspecting people in Pakistan?  That’s what ABC’s newest drama, the incredibly tense and well scripted LAST RESORT, intends to find out. The series comes from the mind of Shawn Ryan, creator of THE SHIELD, TERRIERS, THE CHICAGO CODE, and eventual showrunner of LIE TO ME, along with Karl Gajdusek (former writer for series like DEAD LIKE ME), and stars Andre

My Take On….ELEMENTARY on CBS

Thursday is a big night for me, with two of my favorite new dramas airing – the first one is over on ABC, and the second is CBS’ ELEMENTARY, which begins its run tonight at 10/9c after an all new PERSON OF INTEREST. Jonny Lee Miller (who you all should know from ELI STONE, DEXTER, HACKERS, his marriage to Angelina stars as a modern day Sherlock Holmes – an addict who solves crimes.  Lucy Liu is his Watson, Joan Watson

My Take On….SCANDAL Season 2

Last season, when SCANDAL premiered, I was on the fence.  I don’t know what it was that put me on the fence, but there I sat.  Somewhere about midway through the 7 episode run last year, I fell firmly off the fence into the “love this show backyard.”  It was around the time when it went from being a procedural story to one that included murder after murder, blackmail, adultery, and crazy drama involving the White House staff and Olivia

My Take on…THE NEIGHBORS on ABC

In what is coming to be known as “Classic Amrie,” my initial response to ABC’s newest comedy THE NEIGHBORS was “I didn’t hate it.”  A show that follows Marty and Debbie Weaver, a New York city couple with their three kids in tow, who end up moving to a suburb in New Jersey.  When they get there, they quickly realize something is WAY off about their new neighbors – first and foremost, that they might not be from Earth, exactly.

My Take on….PARTNERS on CBS

Wow, where do I begin?  PARTNERS is the story of an architecture team made up of Michael Urie’s Louis (a gay man) and David Krumholtz’s Joe (a straight man) – the two have been best friends since childhood.  The pilot follows Joe’s wishy-washy-feelings towards getting engaged to Ali (Sophia Bush), while Louis is happy in his relationship with his “hot (true) Jewish (not true) doctor (not true)” boyfriend Wyatt (Brandon Routh).  What killed the show for me, more than the
