At San Diego Comic Con over the summer, Morena Baccarin promised that we’ll see Dr Lee Thompkins right from the get this season on GOTHAM, starting tonight. She and Jim had a rough time of it, and Jim and Leslie are in “very different places.”
LUCIFER’s showrunner Joe Henderson is one of our favorite people to talk to at events like San Diego Comic Con because he has a passion for the show, and an excitement for what LUCIFER will bring in S2 that is unrivaled. His excitement is infectious in the video from our round table as he talks about bringing Tricia Helfer’s Mom to the scene, how she’ll interact with the other characters, as well as bringing Dr Linda into the forefront a bit, what kind of romantic entanglements we might see this season, and above all, the Trixie of it.
When we caught up with Drew Powell (Butch Gilzean, GOTHAM) at San Diego Comic Con, he told us that he finds himself back with Penguin when S3 takes off tonight on FOX. They’re “up to no good, as usual.” The character seems to always find a way to get out of his jams, sometimes with hands and sometimes without! Drew also said that sad-sack lovelorn Butch is back – Tabitha really did a number on his heart, and he has to deal with that. Looking forward to a new battle we can expect this season.
One of the coolest EPs in the biz, Ildy Modrovich of LUCIFER gave us some good info on the genesis of Mom coming to the show in Season 2 while we talked with her at round tables in San Diego. She also let us in on a little secret about the battle of the bands they hold for WB shows shooting up near each other in the ‘Couve
FLEABAG, created by and starring the incomparable Phoebe Waller-Bridge (BROADCHURCH), follows the titular heroine as she talks to the camera, clues you in on the workings of her mind, and weaves a perfect look into the exhausting life of being a modern woman, plus all that comes along.
Alfred is The Action Butler, as Sean Pertwee pointed out (mention his father being known as the Action Doctor), and this season will start off with him and Bruce in a fairly good place. They went through a lot in these first two seasons and as Bruce starts to grow up into the Batman we all know, it sounds like Alfred will be there to prop him up along the way.
Ben McKenzie promises us this year that Jim is a “disillusioned man” when GOTHAM season 3 starts up. Having lost his career, his love, his child, he’s lost himself. At Comic Con in San Diego, he previewed what we should expect from the season – new relationships, for him, for the good Dr, and the prospect of double dates (they don’t sound likely).
Tom Ellis, Lucy himself, was joined by one of this season’s newest additions, Tricia Helfer, who is playing, spoiler alert, his mother! The two gave us the details on what to expect from how Tricia’s Mom character impacts the cast, the family dynamics we’ve already seen, and what she might think of Trixie.
With the S3 premiere coming tonight at 8/7c, GOTHAM: Mad City looks like they are going to burn through story at a fever pitch. Ed Nygma is fully embracing his lunacy as the season starts, and Cory Michael Smith gave us the scoop on what to expect. He warns that Ed will be a great friend to you as long as you realized that Ed is always the smartest one in the room!
