Name of the Episode: “Lift Each Other”

Antonio and Sylvie go public with their romance; they double date with Gabby and Casey. Gabby also tells Sylvie she is invited to her parents’ anniversary party. Antonio didn’t invite her personally, but now Sylvie is wondering exactly what his family will think of her. James comes by the firehouse again and tells Boden he wants to spend his senior year with him and Donna. Maybe even make the firehouse a permanent dream. However, in the locker room, Cruz notices many bruises on James. Concerned, he goes to Severide; before he can say the problem, they are called away.

A security guard heard kids calling for help in an abandoned warehouse. Two boys were playing around, they both jumped from a high point; one boy was caught upside down on the railing, while the other lay on his stomach. Casey races up the rails to unhook the boy and get his blood circulating again. It’s unsure how long he was upside down for; he could have brain damage from the lack of oxygen. Casey is able to resuscitate Wiley at the scene and he is taken to Med. When they get back to the firehouse, Cruz tells Severide what he saw with James. Severide will talk with James and see if Boden needs to be involved. While at Med, Gabby finds out Wiley is in a coma because he lost so much oxygen. Casey felt he did enough to save him and is surprised by the diagnosis.

Before the next call, James tells Severide everything is fine, but seems hesitant. While on the call, James is unable to control an angry civilian at the scene. More than that, he seemed skittish and afraid of the violence from both drivers. Severide sees it necessary to speak to Boden. Wiley’s father comes by the firehouse and thanks them for what they did for his son. Seeing the father as a nervous wreck makes Casey even more frustrated about his actions. Casey was out running errands and stops by Med; Wiley passed away the night before. Casey is stunned by the news and walks out with a heavy heart.

Boden goes to talk with his ex wife regarding James’ future. He also meets her live in boyfriend, Todd. Nice enough guy, but Boden doesn’t know him. Before the anniversary party, Casey doesn’t say anything to Gabby about Wiley. Once everyone gathers, no decorations can hide the truth. The strong Dawson couple is getting divorced. Everyone is blindsided by the news; Gabby is upset they didn’t get any notice before. Boden and Donna agree to have James stay with them for the rest of his schooling. Except when he presses James about his bruises, he lies about how he got them. He quickly changes his story and speaks honestly to Boden. He admits he was being beaten by Todd. Boden becomes extremely angry and finds Todd to severely beat him up. The consequences of his actions lead to a one-shift suspension.

The team is onto another call, and Casey finds himself in another close call with the rescue. They are able to save the man and is taken to Med. Gabby then finds out from Maggie about Wiley’s death. Boden’s ex-wife comes to visit and claims to have no knowledge of what Todd was doing. Todd came clean and she walked out the door to start a new life.

At the end of the episode, Kelly offers to let James ride with Squad 3 whenever he wants. Gabby goes home and sobs in Casey’s arms. They are so selfless when it comes to the needs of each other.

Next week, it’s the 100th episode, and the fall finale. Casey wants to become Louie’s adoptive father, and it looks like maybe a husband to Gabby. After five seasons will everything come together for Gabby and Casey? Find out next week for another after take!
