Name of the Episode: “All Hard Parts”

Beware – the following contains spoilers!!!

At the start of the episode Chili receives her sister’s personal belongings. She had admitted to Sylvie she needed help; but this situation will not help her feel any better. A woman, Tamara Jones, stops by the firehouse hoping Matt will run against Becks in the race for office. Matt turns her down, because he has never considered any career in politics.

The first call of the day is for Sylvie and Chili; a young boy named Tino called for help because his brother has a large gunshot wound in his leg. But the front door is locked and being blocked by the brother after he passed out from the pain. Chili is present and making smart choices; she goes to meet with Boden to discuss her progress. She feels fine and promises to speak her mind, and to not push anyone away. Boden still has two strikes against her, but encourages her to stay on the straight path.

It doesn’t last long because Chili has a moment of weakness and heads to her car. She has a bottle of alcohol hidden in her glove compartment. She takes a few drinks and goes back into the house. Severide chats with her and notices her odd behavior. Cruz tries to encourage Matt to run for Alderman. Tamara even leaves another message asking for Matt. Gabby goes with Matt for the meeting with Tamara; Tamara wants to see the neighborhood stop being fed broken promises. The city needs a hero to stand up for them. She is willing to put in the work to help Matt get the support he needs.

The house gets a call for a level one hazmat incident; they need to find one man trapped inside the building. The man is found in a puddle of ammonia. Jimmy and Matt are found standing in the puddle as Boden warns to not be near the chemical. Their gear is not equipped for a chemical spill; so they step back and asses their options. They use a hose to pull him out of the puddle; but the damage has been done and he cannot be saved. Chili snaps at Sylvie while they try to save the worker and they head back to the firehouse to await the next call.

Battle of the badges is coming up and Jimmy doesn’t look to have the best odds going against Antonio for P.D. At the house, Severide goes to Gabby and tries to address his concerns about Chili. But since she is Sylvie’s partner, they can’t do much about the situation. At the ring, Connie gets to live out her dream as the ring girl and the fight begins. Jimmy gets in a few good hits, and the crowd gets very loud. Antonio doesn’t like it and doesn’t take it easy anymore. He dropped Jimmy like a bad habit and the first round is over. At the house, Severide once again goes to Chili. He tries to speak with her about programs she can take, but she is not receptive to anything he says. But it doesn’t matter because everyone is called to an accident scene. A single car accident is reported, but no driver is found at the scene for squad 3. Truck 81 ends up at a house fire with two children out front. The father and third child are still inside. Squad 3 follows a blood trail to the house fire at truck 81 is.

Everyone works to get into the basement of the burning building. The father is able to push his daughter out of the window but needs assistance for himself. Everyone makes it out okay and the squad heads back to the house. Gabby surprises Matt with the application for the position of Alderman. She knows he can win.

Severide catches Chili with alcohol in her car and forces her to see Boden. It would either be her version, or his version. She goes to Boden and confesses she wants to get counseling and support to make her life better. Boden then makes the tough decision of having to fire Chili. She had received many chances and he will still offer her support; but not as a paramedic. She is in disbelief and angry with Boden. She announces her exit to the house and they try to still show support. But Chili doesn’t want any of it, and leaves in a angry rush.

At the end of the episode, Matt visits Tamara at her home; likely to discuss his run for Alderman. Herrmann goes to Chili’s apartment to show the support of the house, whether she wants it or not. He leaves a framed photo that was in her locker at her doorstep. Chili makes a phone call to Severide asking for his help. He drives her to a rehab facility, he reassures her that friends will forgive; she needs to first walk through the doors and start clean. Matt goes to Molly’s and shows Gabby he filled out the application for Alderman.
