Beware – the follow contains spoilers!!!

Chief Boden is questioned about his neighbor Serena Holmes, and what his intentions were when he went to see her. She is accusing him of beating her with a wine bottle, when that is not the case in any respect. Kelly’s father comes to visit for a couple of days; but automatically wants to get involved when he finds out about Kelly’s suspension. Meanwhile, things are heating up between Chili and Jimmy, but they’re still keeping their relationship secret. But the firehouse gets a call to a café where a driver swerved and flew into the store window. He was found bleeding out over broken glass, and the crew must work carefully if they have a chance to save the man. They are able to cut him out and send him off to Chicago Med. Chief Boden conferences without Patterson, and speaks to Mouch, Matt and Herrmann about his situation with his neighbor’s accusations. After meeting with his lawyer, the circumstantial evidence is damming to the Chief, and he could face up to thirty years in jail if convicted.

After Kelly told his father, Benny to stay out of his business, new information comes up about the Captain. Kelly takes the envelope, but doesn’t open it in the moment. At the firehouse, Chief Riddle drops by and offers his support for Boden. However, he asks Boden to lay low and not attend the Gala that evening. With the Gala approaching, Otis asks Cruz if asking Sylvie to the event would be okay. Cruz did not take kindly to the idea, and then deals with his brother’s friend Freddie. Freddie wants to get out of the gang scene, and stays at the firehouse to get his life on track. However, when he is caught with a gun Cruz doesn’t know what to do. He’s trying to offer Freddie help, but Freddie insists he doesn’t need help.

The problems are only starting for Boden when he is brought back into the station because he was impeding the investigation. Sergeant Voight stops in to see Boden to keep an eye on the investigation. Voight has an idea on how to solve the issue, but Boden is insistent the truth will come out and his name will be cleared. Tensions rise at the house as Gabby accuses the Captain of working with Riddle. Otis finally works up the courage to ask out Sylvie after Cruz’s blessing, but she declines his invite because she doesn’t want to date in house again. On their next call Patterson watches on as Squad makes a risky roof rescue. Truck 81 makes it to the scene just in time and saves the workers. After the rescue, Sylvie changes her mind and accepts Otis’ invite to the Gala.

Freddie makes his return to the house and confesses that a guy from his gang saw him at the firehouse. With a big decision, he confides in Cruz to help get him out of the gang scene. Kelly goes to Patterson and gives him the file so he knows his past is out there. At the Gala, Chief Boden goes to confront Riddle about the assault charge. He believes Riddle could be the one behind the conspiracy; but when Matt pulls him off, the rest of the crew joins him at a table and they show their support for their chief.

At the end of the episode, Patterson goes to Kelly wondering why he was given the file. Kelly proved that they could interact as humans and they didn’t have to always be at each other’s throats.

Next week: The drama continues for the firehouse as they battle their demons and remain steadfast in each other.
