Beware – the follow contains spoilers!!!

Remember last week?
Gabriela was being rushed to the hospital because of abdominal pain. She’s worried about the health of her baby as Doctor’s race to find the problem.

What happened this week?
Dr. Halstead informs Gabby and Matt that there was a tear in the uterus, the baby is in her abdomen, and an emergency surgery will have to take place to stop the bleeding. Since she is still in her first trimester, they don’t know the gender of the baby yet. Matt tries to reassure Gabby that everyone will make it through; although he knows the baby may not survive.

Severide and Patterson decide to keep searching for the arson files that Gabby was searching for when the pain stopped her. Bad news for Herrmann as he hears the news that Molly’s has been shut down due to a building code. They believe it was the Portland couple still seeking revenge. Candidate Borelli hopes a call to his construction cousin can help save the bar.

Severide believes Jamie stole the arson files to make a name for herself in her law firm; and decides to confront her about the issue. She insists even if the files were deleted, someone could still track them down.

Back at the hospital, Matt receives the terrible news that the fetus did not survive the surgery. According to Dr. Halstead, for all purposes, it was a not a viable pregnancy. Gabby is moved out of surgery, but is still being watched over, as she is moved into the ICU.

Truck 81 gets a call to a child’s party where a power line is live on the ground next to a bounce house. The crew fashions a wooden bridge to help save the boy from the bounce house before it is struck by the flames. After a successful rescue, the house receives the good and bad news about Dawson. Chicago PD technical personal, Mouse, comes in and discovers an arson investigator was behind the files being stolen. The worker named Susie was investigated, but later cleared by the police. Severide sees suspicious behavior in Dawson’s supervisor Duffy, but denies any involvement in deleting the files.

While Boden and Sylvie were visiting Gabby at her bedside, Gabby’s blood pressure dropped and began to crash. The doctors determined a piece of the placenta was hidden behind the bowels and it reburst. Gabby makes it out of surgery and is cleared neurologically; she is inconsolable as the doctor leaves the room, and Matt feels helpless.

Luckily, candidate Borelli saves the day with his cousin, as Molly’s becomes a historical spot. It cannot be torn down or altered in any way. Back at the firehouse, Severide receives boxes of the missing arson files and assumes Duffy sent them as a sign of guilt and admission. Severide wants to find Duffy; but when he does, Duffy is sitting on the side of the bridge wanting to jump and end his life. Duffy admits he was paid off to hide the evidence and jumps with a weight strapped to his chest. Severide leaps off the bridge after him and the team assembles on the shoreline. Severide pulls Duffy from the bottom of the river and up to his team on the sidewalk.

Everyone gathers at Molly’s to celebrate their two miracles. Herrmann finds the right words in an impossible situation to make Gabby feel reassured, her day as a mother will come someday. Despite the loss of the baby, Matt and Gabby make the commitment to stay together because of their deep love for one another.
