Leading up to the After-Take, here is what you missed on the first two episodes from season 3. Viewers saw Detective Erin Lindsay running back to her old ways; spinning out of control with drugs and alcohol, being enabled by the actions of her mother. While she was away from the intelligence team, her partner Jay Halstead went undercover, and his identity as a police officer became known. In exchange for his release, the kidnappers wanted files delivered by a female detective. Lindsay realizes after she is able to help save her partner, what her sole purpose is: to protect and serve her city. Her superior and mentor, Hank Voight, helped her regain her life by giving her old job back – under the condition she takes weekly drug tests and stops communications with her mother. Lindsay’s mother Bunny decides Voight has taken too much control over her daughter and wants to see him behind bars for a case over fifteen years ago.

From tonight’s episode:
A father (Dash Mihok) desperate to find his missing daughter takes a computer specialist as a hostage so the police will listen to his plea. On their quest to find the missing girl, Sarah, the team stumbles upon girls caged in a basement. One of the survivors recognized Sarah’s photo and confirms details about their encounter with their kidnapper, Trevor Dunn.

Once the officers are able to disarm Sarah’s father they race against the clock to find Sarah alive. Trevor insists he is only the middleman in the sex trafficking operation. Once the team finds the operation center, they are shocked to find more girls and the boss, Eric Ulrich, shot dead. Witnesses pinned Sarah to the shooting and gained reports of her taking the gun onto the train. Detective Lindsay boards the train in hopes to talk Sarah out of hurting anyone or herself. In a desperate attempt, the team brings her father to the scene. Sarah drops the gun as they are reunited after three months apart.

At the end of the episode, Alvin has to tell his family he has a daughter that has entered into his life. He was not even aware of her existence until she reached out from juvenile prison. The news was not taken well, and has put more of a burden onto their relationship. Then Voight has to witness a man he helped put into jail, walk as a free man until the retrial. However, just as Voight walked outside with his son, daughter in law, and grandson, his car is blown up, threatening all their lives.

As the preview shows, they survive the blast, but now Voight has to decide how far he will go for revenge. This was an emotional episode, and it does not look like it will be getting any easier for these characters. I will be here next week to document the events of the episode.
