My Take On…the return of Jack Bauer in 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY

24LAD_EP1-SC111-DS-8425Just a little over a year ago, I had resigned myself to the fact that the 24 movie was never going to happen (no matter how many times Kiefer reassured us that there was a script written).  I had accepted that we had seen the last of Jack Bauer as he said his goodbyes up to the security cameras and bid Chloe a tear-filled farewell.

Then everything changed.

The setting: FOX Upfronts, 2013.  The event: Kevin Reilly announced that Jack and company would return for an all new miniseries event.  As the months past, it was announced that old friends (Kim Raver, William Devane, and, of course, Mary Lynn Rajskub) would return, while new faces would face the day with our hero (Yvonne Strahovski, Benjamin Bratt, Tate Donovan).  And we’re finally here.  Tonight, 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY kicks off at 8/7c.

We are brought right back into the action as the new CIA, based in London, has their eyes on a suspect that had resurfaced (it should be obvious that said suspect is the long-absent Jack Bauer).  What follows is two hours of excitement as we’re re-acquainted with our old friends, and about 15 new mysteries are introduced.  I already have my eye on about 3 different “moles” because you know there has to be one, and I couldn’t be happier to have 10 more hours to spend with one of my favorite characters that has ever graced the small screen.

I’ve seen a lot of commotion made about whether we “need” the return of Jack Bauer.  I didn’t “need” the return, but I welcome it whole-heartedly, and I just look forward to curling up with some popcorn and watching Kiefer-as-Jack yell Dammit at whoever will listen!  If you were a fan of the show before, it will feel like “coming home” to spend some real-time with Jack.  If you didn’t watch before, give it a chance now; I don’t think it will disappoint!
