CBS announced today the 20 castaways who will compete against each other on SURVIVOR, when the Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 27th season with a special 90-minute premiere, Wednesday, Sept. 18 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The fall edition of SURVIVOR, themed “Blood vs. Water,” will feature former players competing with – and ultimately against – their loved ones who share the same goal: to outwit, outplay, outlast and ultimately be crowned Sole Survivor. Will the returnees use their prior experience in the game to help their partners or will they leave their relatives alone to fend for themselves? Alliances and relationships will be tested and bonds will be broken when mothers, daughters, brothers, spouses and partners vie against each other in the ultimate competition, raising the question: which is thicker – Blood or Water?

This edition of SURVIVOR will feature the return of Redemption Island, where castaways who have been eliminated from the game can seek redemption and return for a chance to win the million dollar prize.  The twist this season, however, is loved ones will be forced to choose whether to “save” their partner on Redemption Island and switch places with them, thus allowing their loved one to immediately re-enter the game, or leave them in exile to survive on their own.

The battle unfolds when these 20 castaways compete on SURVIVOR

• Tyson Apostol (34) from SURVIVOR TOCANTINS(2nd Jury Member) and HEROES VS VILLAINS (6th voted out) with his girlfriend Rachel Foulger (33), both from Provo, Utah.  He’s a former pro-cyclist/shop manager, and she’s a cocktail waitress/graphic designer.
• Aras Baskauskas (31) from SURVIVOR PANAMA – EXILE ISLAND (Winner) and his brother Vytas Baskauskas (33), bot from Santa Monica, CA.  Aras is a musician; Vytas is a yoga instructor/math professor.
• Rupert Boneham (49) from SURVIVOR PEARL ISLAND (2nd Jury Member), ALL STARS (6th Jury Member, Fan-Favorite), and HEROES VS VILLAINS (7th Jury Member) and his wife Laura Boneham (41), both from Indianapolis, IN. He’s a mentor for troubled teens, and she’s a merchandiser.
• Candice Cody (30) from SURVIVOR COOK ISLANDS (5th Jury Member) and HEROES VS VILLAINS (5th Jury Member) and her husband John Cody (30), both from Washington, DC.  She’s an Anesthesiology Resident Physician and he’s an Army Orthopedic Surgery Resident Physician.
• Monica Culpepper (42) from SURVIVOR ONE WORLD (5th voted out) and her husband Brad Culpepper (44), both from Tampla, FL.  She’s a homemaker, and he’s an attorney and retired NFL player.
• Colton Cumbie (22) from SURVIVOR ONE WORLD (6th voted out – medically evacuated) and his fiancé Caleb Bankston (26), both from Collinsville, AL.  Colton is a student teacher and Caleb is a post office manager/farmer.  I hope with every ounce of my being that I don’t’ want to reach into the TV and slap Colton this time around!
• Kat Edorsson (23) from SURVIVOR ONE WORLD (6th Jury Member) and her boyfriend, BIG BROTHER winner Hayden Moss (26).  Kat is from Orlando, FL, and Hayden is from Springtown, TX.  She’s a full time student who works in sales, and he’s in real estate.
• Laura Morett (43) from SURVIVOR SAMORA (3rd Jury Member) and her daughter Ciera Eastin (24), both from Salem, OR.  Laura is the co-owner of Morett Construction and Ciera is a cosmetology student.
• Gervase Peterson (43 and one of my favorite castaways ever) from SURVIVOR BORNEO (3rd Jury Member) and his niece Marissa Peterson (21).  He’s from Philadelphia where he’s a Cigar Lounge Owner, and she’s a student from Chapel Hill, NC.
• Tina Wesson (52 and another favorite) from SURVIVOR AUSTRALIA (Winner) and ALL STARS (1st voted out) and her daughter Katie Collins (25).  Tina is a motivational speaker from Robbinsville, NC, while Katie is works in hedge fun support in New York, NY.
